What can I do to make my tower system sound better?

Ask any wake board boat owner what they think of their boats sound package.  You’ll probably hear “I paid more for this boat than I did my house, and the sound system sucks.”  Boat manufacturers have been simply buying standard car audio drivers from Sony, Kenwood, Clarion…you name it…., putting them in a smallish thin aluminum can, and hanging them from the tower.  These speakers were designed to play to 20 cubic foot rooms…like, umm…your car!  They probably have little to no bass, too much mid (for which your ears are already too well adapted), and highs that crack badly at higher volumes due to your desperate attempts to get more bass. <see Why do standard speakers sound so crappy? for a more complete discussion>   So what can you do?

First of all, don’t try hanging your primo trunk system on your tower.  The tower will probably buckle and collapse from the weight.  Besides, most trunk systems aren’t waterproof.  The good news if  you are one of the many thousands of wake board owners suffering from bass withdrawal, all you have to do is hang one Tube Acoustics Bass Bomb on your tower along side your stock can sets.  Presto...instant bass.   Another option is you can put your stock speakers back in a car where they belong and install a set of 6” Pipe Bomb from Tube Acoustics.  Again, Presto.
