What do you recommend if I want to use store-bought car speakers?

 

If you want great sounding music you have to have components designed for the listening area.  Our Pipe Bombs and Bass Bombs are designed for open air listening <see Pipe bomb and Bass Bomb Technical Info>.  You get thunderous lows, powerful mids, and impressive highs, at the end of a ski rope or across a parking lot (just ask the guys at Monster Tower).  But if you are dead set on going component cheap with a set of our cool cans, here’s our advice.

 

We've tested about 15 different driver sets in the 6 to 6.5 in. diameter size in our standard cans, including Sony Explode, Clarion co-ax and separates, Kenwoods, Kickers, Concepts, and some cheapies like Ultimates and Audio Vox.  We would rank the MB Quart Discus Series DKE 116 coax as the all around best sounding for the price, and probably the RCE 216 separates as a pricier option.  We're open for more testing if anyone has a suggestion.
