Design Approach

 

Tube Acoustics has always preferred sound quality as its objective as opposed to sound pressure or noise level.  Our Pipe Bombs strike a balance between beautiful sound quality and arousing bass pressure by controlling the mid freqs and emphasizing the highs and lows.  Our Bass Bomb produce incredibly pleasing lows to enhance the overall sound quality of any existing boat or car audio system.  Both the Pipe Bomb and Bass Bomb designs utilize a bass driver coupled with a passive radiator for excellent bass response <see What is a passive radiator>.  We use passive radiators as opposed to vented ports because our enclosures are weather tight for use boating, patio parties, construction sites, as well as autos.  Our unique clamp mount design lets you mount your Pipe Bombs in your car, on your wake board tower, on your party boat, or on a tripod for patios or anywhere you want music and have a 12V car battery.

 

Our enclosure design uses 6 to 10 inch diameter schedule 40 aluminum pipe.  We powder coat the pipe with near indestructible coating and apply some special sound improvement techniques.  Its interesting that while we didn’t sit down at the beginning and mathematically calculate the outcome of combining the various components with our enclosure design, the outcome is absolutely astounding.  Hey...even the slinky was an accident.
